In the beginning I was there You could smell my breath upon your hair Dust and light and all things green Even of the things unseen Order over chaos stood And you knew you were very good I made you with my own hands All appeared at my command I have made you in my own image And I want you to conform to me Since the beginning of my youth I have felt a long way from the truth Glimpses of the other side Feelings I would push aside My heart is dying, my mind’s confused My innocence has been abused Things of stone and wood feel right But lately I don’t sleep at night I have made you in my own image And I want you to conform to me In the garden I called out your name And when I found you, you said “It’s not the same…” And in the garden you called out my name And when you found me, you said “It’s not the same…” I have made you in my own image And I want you to conform to me

I’m walking blind, this dim lit street I’ve walked this road before I’ve worn these shoes, I’ve heard their news I’ve shopped in all these stores A heart full, of sorrow No thought for, tomorrow Full like a land-fill of sores There must be something more Show me the road worth the walk Worth the dying for Show me the words worth the talk Worth the speaking forth And show me you’re here with me Lord and lead me forward I’ve seized the day I’ve played the game I’ve run this race before I’ve drunk my fill I took that pill It left me wanting more

Everyone’s looking for a song The melody’s right, the words are wrong Love so amazing, so inspired Cuts across the radio wire Take the scales from our eyes Make our hearts to realise That your love fills our lives No one’s content with what they’ve got Lost in the search for one forgot Love so amazing, so sublime Right beside us all the time All of us needing to be found The ransom was set, the cost profound Love so amazing, so divine Paid the price for all mankind Take the scales from our eyes Make our hearts to realise That your love fills our lives My heart is on its knees at the borderline His scars are crying out at those debts of mine Take the scales from my eyes Make my heart to realise That your love fills my life

How Long? 04:21
Where are you? I’ve been hurting I’ve fallen, don’t desert me When you say, you are faithful Give me faith Give me faith Today, today Where are you? I’ve been calling I’m waiting, for your answer Light my eyes, to stay awake Can I see Can I see You face, to face I trust in the Lord in His unfailing love, he is my salvation. I sing to the Lord in my heart I rejoice, he is my salvation. Where are you? I’ve been searching I’m looking, for your mercy Our old haunts, are long deserted You’ve called me Called me to a new place, a new place I trust in the Lord in His unfailing love, he is my salvation. I sing to the Lord in my heart I rejoice, he is my salvation. How long? (Don’t forget me!) How long? (Don’t hide your face!) How long? (Will you wait until I’m…) How long? (Overcome?)

Just another day out fishing We were pulling in our nets at dawn A man came along with a question ‘Would you give it all up for the Lord?’ Went down to the well for water When no one else was around A man told me all of my secrets ‘Would you give them all up for the Lord?’ Give it all up for the Lord I came to the Lord with a question Am I good enough for reward He looked deep into my eyes and said ‘Give it all up for the Lord…’ Running down the road to Damascus With a passion to fight for the cause A man stopped me dead in my tracks and said ‘Would you give it all up for the Lord?’ Lay it all down for the Lord Was high on pride and ambition To fill all my selfish desires When a man from 2000 years ago Gave me a new take on life He said Give yourself up for the Lord Lay your self down for the Lord Give it all up for the Lord

I Believe 04:23
I believe in a God of action, whose hands look like my own A God who gave up his throne in heaven, to know and be made known I believe he knows us, each and every one We can see his grand design in his only Son I believe in a God who suffers, who feels and knows our pain A God who stands with us in our troubles, he knows it’s for our gain I believe he knows us, each and every one We will see his grand design when our lives are done I believe Lord, put my faith in who you are Everyday Lord, show us more of who you are I believe in a God who listens, who hears us when we pray A God who cares for our every need, and for our everyday I believe he knows us, each and every one We can see his grand design in the rising sun I believe Lord, put my faith in who you are Everyday Lord, show us more of who you are I believe in a God whose people, are neither left or right A God who sees us for who we are, not colored, black or white I believe he knows us, each and every one We will see his grand design when we stand as one I believe Lord, put my faith in who you are Everyday Lord, show us more of who you are

Our home, unseen Far away from here Your world, our hope Must be believed to be seen All creation groans Longing for our home Lord we are calling For your kingdom come As in heaven, on earth Lord, may your will be done Lord we are longing For your kingdom come We are not of this world We are pilgrims in life Meanwhile we wait People of faith stand true Our world we love Waiting to be made new All creation groans Longing for our home Lord we are calling For your kingdom come As in heaven, on earth Lord, may your will be done Lord we are longing For your kingdom come We are not of this world We are pilgrims in life

about

These songs took shape throughout March and April 2011. They were written to accompany a seven part series through which our church community was exploring the overarching story of the scriptures - beginning with creation and moving thematically through the fall, redemption, exile, Jesus, the church, to finish with heaven. Now recorded, as when they were written, this collection of songs is dedicated to our church community, Red.
